Arjan Van Dal woont en werkt in Londen, maar is van geboorte Nederlander. Zijn werken vond je o.a. terug op Ceramic Art Londen. 

‘Thrown porcelain in vibrant colours from my north London studio’

Colour and form are the celebrated elements in my work. The white porcelain is my canvas that is coloured and shaped, mainly on the potter’s wheel.

My work finds itself on the crossroad of craft, art and design. It plays with the idea of the manufactured though shaped with my own hands. I aim for perfection where subtle details uncover the handmade nature and where colour and form create playfulness with a delicate touch.

Originally educated as an engineer (urban engineering for technological development - MSc) and in social-political ethics (MA), I initially worked for some Dutch ministries and under the UNESCO umbrella, as programme officer science for the Netherlands. But the clay was calling me back. I first got my hands on clay in 1992, when I started my engineering master. It was 'to do something nice as well'. I spent my Saturday's at the studio of Raymundus van Kessel, a monk at the abbey Marienkroon in Nieuwkuijk (NL). After he passed away in 1997 I hadn't touched clay till I rediscovered it in 2010. Since then I have built up my own practice.

Arjan zal ons 2 dagen begeleiden tijdens deze masterclass voor gevorderden, dag 1 draaien we geometrische vormen met zelfgemaakt gekleurd porselein, je hoeft niet bekend te zijn met porselein, kennis van het draaien met steengoed is oké.Dag 2, draaien we af en assembleren we.

 Lunch, koffie, thee, water, bruiswater zijn inbegrepen. Hij werkt met Audrey Blackman porselein, je mag zelf porselein meebrengen of het bij ons aankopen. Bakkosten en glazuren zijn niet inbegrepen. Breng een schort en een oude handdoek mee, eventueel eigen bats als je je werk ongebakken mee naar huis wil nemen.
